Adoptables

We list our pets for adoption on petfinder.  These are just some of our adoptable pets.  Please see our petfinder homepage for a complete list of our dogs and cats available for adoption.

An $80 donation is required to adopt a pet from ARPO.  All animals are vet checked, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed or neutered if old enough.  Adopters must fill out an application, and an interview and home visit is required.  We do not have a shelter, so all of our pets are in foster care.

We hold adoptions at the Castleton Petsmart, 82nd and Allisonville Rd., every Saturday, except holiday weekends, from noon until 4 pm.   In addition, we hold adoptions at the Three Dog Bakery in Broad Ripple the first Saturday of every month and at the W. 86th and Michigan Rd. Petsmart the last Saturday of every month except holidays.  All times are 12-4 pm except where noted. If you are interested in a particular animal, please contact us to find out where that animal will be shown.

***Please note:  We will NOT hold adoptions Saturday, July 6 due to the holiday.  Please contact us if you are interested in a particular animal.  We hope to be at Three Dog Bakery July 13, in addition to our regular Castleton Petsmart adoptions.***

Tiny and Daisy

These senior dogs need your help!  Daisy and Tiny were surrendered by their owner to a southern Indiana shelter. Their owner left them when she moved--apparently she was not as attached to them as they are to her. They were scheduled to be euthanized, but word got out and with the help of some wonderful volunteers ARPO was able to save them and bring them into our foster care. They have been to the vet for routine exams and are generally healthy, though both have slight cataracts. Both dogs have had dental cleanings; Tiny had 7 teeth extracted and Daisy had one.  They are spayed and housebroken, though may have some accidents while adjusting to a new home. They MUST be adopted together as they are quite bonded and could use each other to lean on while they adjust to a new life.

Tiny is rat terrier, about 8 yrs old, and Daisy is Beagle mix about 11 years old. Daisy has some light hair loss by her tail which was determined to be a flea allergy. She has since been treated with Frontline. Daisy is sweet, friendly and interested in new people. She seems fine with children but since they are older and their previous owner was older, we are asking that their adoptive family have no small children. Tiny is a little more nervous than Daisy but very friendly and curious. When she gets excited, she still has lots of play in her.  They have several good years left and we can't help but think someone out there would love to give them the love they deserve for the rest of their lives. Is that someone you?
Ask us about a reduced adoption fee for these two seniors!

***If you cannot adopt these two senior sweeties, please consider donating funds towards their medical bills.  Your donations are tax deductible and much appreicated!  Just write "Tiny and Daisy" on your check to ARPO.  Thank you!***

Sasha

Sasha and her two housemates, Samson and Sierra, came to us when their owner moved and did not take them. Sasha's housemates have been adopted, but Sasha is still awaiting a permanent home. Sasha is three years of age and is a pretty good sized girl. She is up to date on shots, FeLV/FIV negative and is spayed. Though she is not a cuddly kitty per her surrendering owner, she does like to be petted and her foster home reports that she does indeed enjoy affection. She is independent and does get along with children and other cats. She tolerates a dog in the household. Sasha likes to have the bottom of her back paws rubbed as well as her tummy. If you would like to give this kitty another chance at a loving, permanent home, please contact us.

I am Still Waiting for a Home!

We are still looking for that lifetime home for Mom Cat (aka Boots), the last of 11 kitties rescued from an abandonment situation in February of 2001. She is a spayed female, gray tabby with white DSH, at least 3 years old, quiet, sweet, was treated at vet for a bacterial eye infection. That eye is now cloudy in color, but it has healed and it does not seem to bother Mom Cat. She is doing well in foster home with two other adult cats, a kitten, and an adult boxer. Please help us finish this sad story with a happy ending for Mom Cat.

If you cannot foster or adopt, donations are much appreciated to help with food, litter, and medical care.
